If you want to point a domain name that you have to a different domain or subdomain, one of the ways to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain name being forwarded loses all its records (A, MX, and so forth) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain name it is forwarded to. In this way, if you use a web design service by some company that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain and not only will it be forwarded to the site you have set up, but it'll also be displayed in the browser address bar at all times. Other possible uses of a CNAME record are to redirect all of the visitors from different subdomains to their main domain name, or to use the webmail service of your webhosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain since such a record created for the main domain makes it impossible to use email addresses.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with every one of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will permit you to set up a CNAME record without difficulty. If you want to create a private URL for your emails, to forward a domain name to a subdomain inside the account or to forward a domain address to another provider and use some third-party service that they provide, it will not take you more than three clicks to create this kind of record. All DNS records for the domains and subdomains hosted inside the semi-dedicated account are going to be listed in a separate section in the CP, so once you're there, all that you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to set up and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then enter the actual record text. For your convenience, you can watch a short video in the CP concerning how to create a CNAME record or you can follow the instructions in the help article, which is available in the DNS records section.
