SSH Telnet
Learn what SSH is and just how you may manage a whole server with it.
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to connect to a web server and execute different tasks via a command line. The protocol is employed by many knowledgeable users, because the info transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access may be used for a lot of things with regards to the type of web hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is one of the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the hosting server allows for it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH can be used for just about everything - you could install software or restart particular services like the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is used typically with UNIX-like Operating Systems, but there are clients which enable you to employ the protocol if your PC is running a different OS too. The connection is made on TCP port 22 by default and the remote web server always listens for incoming connections on that port though lots of service providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
If you have a
shared hosting account with us and you would like to deal with your content remotely using SSH, you could get SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal does not offer this feature as standard, you could add it with a couple of mouse clicks from the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the CP, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You could also pick what password you would like to use, considering that it does not need to be the same as the one for your account. We have prepared a number of Help articles in which you can find all of the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting plan, plus examples of how they're used. In addition, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection using a standard client such as FileZilla, for instance.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our
semi-dedicated server accounts provide you with the possibility to access and manage them using SSH. If the plan that you've selected includes this function by default, you just need to activate the SSH access function through the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an additional upgrade, you can quickly include it through the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia CP and it will be available within a minute. We have a lot of help articles and educational videos regarding the use of SSH commands to manage your account and an entire list of the commands which you can perform together with various examples to provide you with a better idea of what you can do. If SSH is active, you shall also be able to establish an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files securely through any FTP app that supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The
VPS server plans which we offer include SSH access as standard, not as an optional upgrade or a feature that you have to enable. The moment your new server is prepared, you'll be able to connect and start working on your content through the login details you have entered through the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials shall be sent to you via e mail as well. Because your VPS shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical server, there are no limitations as to what you can or cannot do using SSH. You could download, set up and manage any piece of software that will run on a Linux web server, reboot the entire server or only a certain software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you will require for that is a console or an SSH client on your end.
